Moscow's determination to improve the security and economic cooperation
with "their old partners", Afghanistan.Speaking to reporters after Tuesday's meeting with his Afghan
counterpart, Salahuddin Rabbani, in Moscow, Sergei Lavrov said that
Russia would support the Kabul to stabilize the situation in the
country.
"Afghanistan is a long and close partner of Russia. Today, we reaffirm our desire to develop further cooperation in the military field, socio-economic and humanitarian, "Lavrov said Tasnim News reported.Russia's foreign minister expressed hope that the establishment of more cooperative partnership with the new administration of US President Donald Trump on regional security, including in Afghanistan, and the campaign against Takfiri terrorist groups Daesh.
Rabbani, in turn, stressed that Afghanistan will cooperate with Russia to tackle common security problems."We agreed that the interests of Afghanistan and Russia in ensuring regional stability are interrelated," he added. (ARN)
